Working with SouthEast Telephone

Why choose SouthEast Telephone over other providers?

Many communication providers focus on up-selling hardware, software, and bundled services. We specialize in life-safety communications. While others treat these systems like standard phone or internet lines, we understand the unique demands of fire, life, and safety applications — and treat them with the reliability and urgency they require.

Customers choose us because:

  • We specialize in fire, life, and safety communications — where reliability isn't optional
  • We deliver maximum reliability and fast response times for critical systems
  • We offer unique 911 location delivery capabilities that many wireless providers cannot match
  • Our solutions are simple to install, cost-effective, and built for long-term performance
  • We act as a true extension of your team — responsive, accountable, and never a call center

Pool Emergency Phone FAQ

What makes SouthEast Telephone's pool emergency phone different from others?

Our wireless pool phone is one of the only solutions on the market that delivers your exact name, address, and telephone number directly to local 911 dispatch — the same way a landline does. Most wireless devices rely on:

  • A prerecorded audible message, or
  • A third-party monitoring center that looks up your address and relays it

Our system does neither.

We worked directly with Intrado/West, the national E911 backbone, to register and "land-lock" our phone numbers so dispatchers receive the correct information instantly. This provides faster, clearer emergency response, and keeps your property aligned with jurisdictions that require direct 911 location delivery.

This ensures responders know exactly where help is needed, even if the caller cannot speak clearly.

Is the phone easy to install?

Yes. The system is designed for simple, self-installation.

Most customers mount the NEMA-rated enclosure, by simply drilling four screws into the mounting brackets into an exterior wall, located near a standard 120v outlet, plug in the included power adapter, and activate service. No electrician is required, and no landline is needed. For customers who prefer assistance, professional installation is available.

Does the phone require a landline or special wiring?

No. Our STS-6741 is a wireless solution, so there are:

  • No copper phone lines
  • No trenching or conduit work

Equipment only requires a standard 120v outlet for power (male and female 3-pin plug, power adapter included).

Can I replace my existing push-button phone with a handset without replacing everything?

It depends on your current setup, but in many cases, yes.

Some older systems combine the connectivity hardware with the phone itself, making partial replacements difficult. But many setups allow you to swap the phone unit while keeping the existing communication hardware.

Regardless of what equipment you have today, SouthEast Telephone designed its all-in-one pool emergency phone to be:

  • Affordable
  • Self-install friendly
  • Compliant in counties that prohibit push-button phones
  • Easy to replace without complex wiring or labor

If your current phone is failing inspection, an upgrade doesn't have to be complicated or expensive.

Can this device replace a POTS landline for my elevator or fire system?

Yes. Our wireless fixed terminal can replace aging landlines for:

  • Elevator emergency phones
  • Building safety phones or call boxes

The STS-6741 is not designed to replace analog lines for fire alarm control panel (FACP) communication. However, we offer other wireless solutions — including LTE and AES mesh options — that are specifically built for fire system connectivity.

If your carrier is discontinuing copper service or raising rates, we can guide you through a simple replacement process — often with self-installation.

How does the phone connect to 911?

The STS-6741 uses a secure 4G/LTE fixed wireless terminal (FWT). When someone lifts the handset, the call routes directly to your local 911 dispatch center and not a monitoring center or third-party service.

Dispatch receives:

  • Your registered pool name
  • The physical address
  • A callback number tied to your device
Will this phone help us pass inspection?

Yes. Our system is designed to meet the communication elements inspectors commonly look for, including:

  • Dedicated emergency access
  • Handset operation (when required in certain regions)
  • Clear two-way audio
  • Direct 911 dialing
  • Accurate location delivery
  • Visible, accessible placement

If you're unsure about your local requirements, we can help you confirm what applies in your county.

Why doesn't a cell phone satisfy pool safety requirements?

Cell phones are not considered compliant emergency communication for several reasons:

  • Not everyone carries a phone at the pool
  • Devices may be uncharged, locked, or water-damaged
  • GPS location can be inaccurate or missing indoors or near structures
  • Some counties legally require a dedicated, fixed emergency phone
  • Cell phones cannot consistently deliver landline-style location data

A dedicated pool phone ensures universal access, compliance, and reliable communication during emergencies.

Does the phone work during bad weather or seasonal shutdowns?

Yes. The NEMA-rated enclosure protects the handset and internal components from:

  • Heat
  • Moisture
  • Humidity
  • Rain
  • Pool splash
  • General outdoor wear

For seasonal pools, many communities simply power down the unit during the off-season and reactivate it during opening. Our team provides guidance for seasonal testing.
